Yong Tau Foo

Yong Tau Foo, originally uploaded by snapperwolf*.

Yong Tau Foo is a Malaysian Chinese dish that comprises of vegetables stuffed with fish paste served usually in a stock with dipping sauces. The vegetables(traditionally okra, bitter gourd, chillies, eggplants) and tofu are stuffed with the fish paste, fried and then simmered in a special stock.

I decided to make this the other weekend, it was pretty good except next time, I’ll try a different fish. The stock was made out of dried anchovies(ikan bilis), soya beans and garlic. It was also not okra season so that was a missing vegetable. All in all, most delicious!
