The Journey To Ikea

This is the second time in 2 weeks we have been to Ikea. Last time, we went and I suffered a small meltdown somewhere in between BRANAS and FAKTUM. We left beaten, with a few impulse purchases from the marketplace. This time, I vowed to beat Ikea.

We consulted the online catalogue before going, we measured and uhm-ahh’ed. We went in with an aim and a paper measuring tape and a pencil made for gnomes. First of all, we had the breakfast. J had the $2 breakfast - a lump of scrambled eggs, a sausage, a slice of bacon and 2 hashbrowns. J got extra hashrbowns for 70c. The meal was well as you would expect for $2 - can’t complain. Its lucky Ikea is not anywhere near a university, I can just see some uni students living off $2 breakfasts. I had a slice of bread with salad, shrimp(definitely shrimp, not prawns) and a boiled egg on top for $4.95. Again, can’t complain really!

Bellies full, we strode purposefully through the maze of kitchens, bedrooms and bathrooms. Me pointing randomly at cool things, and J measuring things. We dodging the arguing couples, the screaming children and the uni students trying to see how many bodies fit on a futon armchair. In the end we left with a FJÄLLNÄS as agreed, but not before acquiring some port glasses, a chopping board, wine racks and baskets…its something about that maze of a market place, you always end up with something you never thought you needed.
